The Tertiary Industry
How many people work in the tourism industry in Benidorm, Spain?
Hi, I’m going a geography report and I can’t find any data on the number of people employed in the tourism (or at least in the tertiary) industry. I would appreciate some help! Please quote your sources too, as I need to verify your data. I can’t just assume your correct

The problem that you will need to address is that any figures that you do find will be very inaccurrate for a number of reasons : Firstly the Tourist Industry is seasonal and as such a lot of work contracts are temporary – so if the Industry Employs say 20′000 in Benidorm in August, it may only employ 3′000 in January.
Secondly, what exactly do you mean by ” Tourist Industry ” – to a certain extent the whole Town relies on tourism for it’s income, so you could mean just Hotels, Bars etc… or this could be taken to mean almost everybody that is employed in some form or other in the Town.
Finally, over here in Spain ( and especially in this Industry ) there are a lot of Small B&B’s or Property Owners rentinbg out Villas, and even Bar workers that are doing so Illegally and without the Government’s knowledge – so whilst they are getting an Income from this industry, they will not appear in any official figures.
– I think that you need to make some reference to that in your assignment ( It will also explain any innaccuracies in the stats that you may have )
